Sighnaghi
Tamuna Beridze
Tamuna was born and raised in Sighnaghi, a town in the historical region of Kiziqi surrounded by the remnants of an 18th century fortification. The village is known for its proximity to Bodbe Monastery¹ and for its stunning views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains. Tamuna has been a member of Zedashe Ensemble for many years and her voice can be heard on a number of their albums. Today Tamuna lives with her husband and three young children in a house overlooking the mountains.
¹The Monastery of Saint Nino at Bodbe holds the relics of Saint Nino, the patron saint of Georgia. It serves as an important place of pilgrimage for members of the Georgian Orthodox Christian faith.
